As we all navigate through these unprecedented times due to the effect of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we want to share an update from Valor Athletics.
First, this is a severe and rapidly changing issue that affects everyone worldwide. Our focus continues to be on the health and safety of everyone associated with Valor Collegiate Academies, Valor Athletics, the state of Tennessee, and our country. We cannot stress enough that everyone should follow the guidelines from local and national health experts to slow the spread of the virus for as long as it takes.
After meeting together with leadership and reviewing the latest health data, we have made the decision to pause our interscholastic athletic programs to help combat the spread of this virus by limiting large gatherings. It is not lost on me the disappointment of having seasons paused, canceled, and cut short — most notably our dedicated student-athletes, coaches, and staff — but we know this was necessary to do our part as a community member.
We find solace in the fact that we made considerable adjustments to our operations and daily routines to safely provide interscholastic athletics to more than 300 student-athletes during these unprecedented times, even as many of them continue their studies from remote locations. The amount of grit and determination from our scholars and staff has been encouraging, and I am confident our scholars will return hungrier than ever and ready to compete.
We will continue to provide updates across athletics channels as soon as information becomes available. Thank you all for everything you do to support Wildcat athletics and we are hopeful to see you all whenever we are able to return to the playing fields safely. Our top priority remains to stop the spread of this virus and defeat it.
